Vacation Bible School

Jesus Is Your Compass! Follow Him! - Vacation Bible School!
July 15-19, 9-Noon!
at Joyful Harvest Church!

Jesus Is Your Inner Compass - Follow Him! In today's fast-paced wolrd, kids need touchstone - something they can trust to always show them the right way to go.

At VBS this year, kids will experience God’s Word in surprising and unforgettable ways! Each day, leaders reinforce one simple Bible truth — which makes it easy for kids to remember and apply to real life! It's an incredible Bible-learning experience where kids will see, hear, and encounter the truth about how Christ is our guiding compass! Team-building games, cool Bible songs, and active Bible adventures are just a few of the activities that help faith flow into real life. (Since everything is hands-on, kids might get a little messy. Be sure to send them in play clothes, safe shoes, and maybe with a towel since we will play some fun water games!)

Your kids will also participate in an outreach project, called Operation Christmas Child, that will let the kids in our community shine God's light to hurting kids around the world.

Limited openings are available! Sign up now by downloading the registration form (Click Here!) and returning it by July 8, along with payment to:

Pollinator Pocket

Pollinator Pockets - Making our environment better!!

Pollinator Pockets are very popular urban landscape features. They are small wildflower patches that fit well into the corner of yards or other places. Their name comes from their role in being made up of flowers that produce pollen which attracts butterflies, bees and birds such as hummingbirds.

Many times these flowers are simply commercially-produced popular flowers like black-eyed Susan, purple coneflowers, coreopsis, asters and phlox. But Pollinator Pockets can also be comprised exclusively of native, local plants. These are the plants that are most valuable in propagating and preserving the local butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. And that is an important point these days because those pollinators are an important part of ecology and often their very existence is threatened. There are more endangered and threatened native wild plants and animals in Lake County than in any other county in Illinois. Planting these ecological treasures and making seed and transplants available to others can help reverse the losses.

But there is another aspect of Pollinator Pockets that is even more precious than the ecological preservation - the opportunity to have a piece of God's divine natural creation to walk by or through on a regular basis; the opportunity to learn about and appreciate and be a part of and enrich this precious divine entity. And in the process enrich our own lives and the lives of our children and friends.

Joyful Harvest planted an indigenous Pollinator Pocket this spring! Stop by and see what's blooming!!

It hurts to lose someone. Find help at GriefShare.
New session starts August 6, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel.

This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.

Come and find the support and help you need. Call the church office for more information - (847) 497-4569.
