Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity! February 15, 8:30 am

Habitat for Humanity’s vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Their mission is to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat's ministry is based on the conviction that to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, we must love and care for one another. Our love must not be words only — it must be true love, which shows itself in action. Habitat provides an opportunity for people to put their faith and love into action. Join Joyful Harvest and other groups to make affordable housing and better communities a reality for everyone.

Our next Habitat outing is set for February 15. We'll leave the church at 8:30 a.m. and work until 3:00 p.m.! Sign up at the Welcome Table or call the church office at (847) 497-4569.

Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner - February 25, 6:00 p.m.

The Christian celebration called Shrove Tuesday, a.k.a. Pancake Day, was traditionally the last day people could feast before fasting with Lent before Easter. Traditionally a homemaker emptied the home of fat, eggs, and dairy before the fasting and abstinence of Lent began. This practice evolved to serving pancakes on the Tuesday prior to Lent. Bring your family and friends and join us for our annual Pancake Supper! You bring your favorite pancake toppings and a side – bacon is ALWAYS delicious! February 25, 6:00 p.m.

Ash Wednesday Worship

Ash Wednesday Worship - February 26, 7:00 p.m.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. On this day, Christians focus intensely on our sin and the necessity of Christ's suffering and death to earn our salvation. We use ashes (traditionally made by burning palms used on Palm Sunday of the previous year and mixed with a small amount of olive oil) which are applied to the forehead of each worshiper during Ash Wednesday worship. The smudge mark made by the dirty ashes in the sign of the cross is a powerful reminder that we are going to die, and that our only hope lies in Jesus Christ – our hope for forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life in heaven.

Please join us Wednesday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m. for our Ash Wednesday service.
